18 Songs to Lift You Up and Get You Moving

Some days, you just gotta move to shake away the blues. Here are my top picks to get you moving or to just get out of your current funk.

Throw open the blinds, turn up the volume and dance like nobody’s watching. I guarantee you’ll feel better after.

Can’t get up and dance? That’s okay. Sit in your favorite chair and just let your body move to the music.

My Top Picks to Get You Moving (with links)

For some, the gap between knowing what they need to do to accomplish their goals and actually doing it is everything. As a virtual accountability partner, I help people struggling with procrastination and overwhelm take the critical steps they need to break the cycle of inaction and move forward with their lives.

I thought today’s world had forgotten “Love Shack.” I still enjoy the rock and pop songs from the 60s and 70s. The Australian group from the 60s is also one of my favorites . . . The Seekers.

I introduced Love Shack to my oldest daughter this past year and she loved it. We enjoy all sorts of music. I’ve not heard of The Seekers, though! I’ll have to check them out!

The Seekers were as big as the Beatles back in the day. They sang more folk and pop.

I love that, and can totally see why. For a long stretch, my anthem was ‘Fight Song’ by Rachel Platten. Both are so empowering! Thank you so much for sharing!

O you have a lot of songs that I like too on your playlist. The first one was spot on 🙂 I love Micheal Franti. I met him once and it made my year. Great music and a lovely man. If you can see him live, in a small setting, I would highly recommend. Thank you for bringing this back into my memory!

Yes it was extraordinairy. I cherish the pictures very deeply. Maybe one day, I’ll write a post about it. It can bring joy to other people too. But his music is the most powerfull. Music can heal and comfort.

Just thought of one more: when I feel ugly, fat, not sexy, dumb, …. do you know these days? I recommend ‘Big Girl’ from Mika. For me an instant ‘pick me up’ and I’m avarage size, leaning to a bit more 🙂

Oh, I totally know those days. I spent most of my life the opposite (being told over and over I was “too” skinny and that I’d look so much better and healthier with a little more weight on me). I believed it, and so began my years of not feeling comfortable or beautiful in my own skin. (“If only I was 20 pounds heavier…if only I had a curvy butt…if only I had more on top…”) I hadn’t heard of Mika, but I just listened to ‘Big Girl’ and LOVE it!!! I love the message. Music can be so empowering. Thanks so much for sharing this song. I know others will love it, too! For those who’d like to check it out: click here.

Ahhh, Bob Marley. He’s my good friend’s favorite artist. So much so she named her cats Ziggy and Marley. 😉 Just listened and it’s beautiful. It’s one of those songs that you can get lost in for awhile. Perfect for when you’re stuck in a negative thought loop. 🙂 Thank you for sharing! Music is a soul healer.

  15. I’m impressed, I have to admit. Rarely do I come across a blog that’s
both equally educative and entertaining, and without a doubt, you’ve
hit the nail on the head. The problem is something which not
enough people are speaking intelligently about. Now i’m very happy that
I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this.
