Mindset Work Doesn’t Mean You’ll Never Think Negative Thoughts

It means you’ll have the awareness and tools to change them if you want.

“Mindset” is tossed around so much lately, it’s almost a buzzword. But let’s break it down, shall we?

Definition (layman’s terms):

“a person’s way of thinking and their opinions”-Cambridge English Dictionary

“a mental attitude or inclination” — Merriam-Webster Dictionary

“the established set of attitudes held by someone” — Oxford Dictionary

To me, mindset refers to the entire thought process: i.e., our thoughts cause our feelings which drive our actions (or inaction), and are ultimately responsible for the results we have in life.

I think there’s a common misconception that mindset work means training your brain to be happy and positive all the time.

Sure, that’s possible. And, honestly, isn’t it nice to know that we can choose to find the positive in any given situation?

But the true power of mindset work is when we truly understand that if our thoughts have the power to destroy our lives, our thoughts also have the power to rebuild them.

Mindset work doesn’t mean you’ll never be unhappy, insecure

or have self-defeating thoughts ever again.

It means you’ll have the awareness to catch those

thoughts and feelings sooner,

and the tools to decide what happens next.

When my clients see that the only thing stopping them from going after what they want is their thoughts, they WANT to learn to take responsibility for their thoughts so they can take ownership of their lives.

We all have different areas of growth, but when we understand how our human minds work, we can use this knowledge to change any aspect of our lives.

What’s most mind-blowing to my clients is how quickly they start to take action. When they know they have the power to change their lives at any time, they realize there’s no need to wait.

There are always going to be people who believe mindset stuff is too metaphysical and “woo.”

I used to be one of those people.

But if you’re one of those skeptics, and your thoughts are causing you so much emotional suffering, I would just ask:

What do you have to lose by exploring this work?

Choose your hard. I’ll leave you with the following;

And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
